Why Gang is considered a sacred river
Hindu mythology says that this river is called the heavenly river (and it was called Ganges), which went down to the Earth and was called Ganges. For Hindus — Ganga is a sacred river. Special places of pilgrimage for the Hindus are the sources of the river, as well as the city of Haridvar and Varanasi. Also, a lot of pilgrims visit Gang in the city of Alahabad (where the Jamna River flows). Although the sacred river Ganges is throughout its length, but the lack of infrastructure and inaccessibility do not make it possible to visit Ganges anywhere. The cremations of the dead are held on the banks of the sacred river, and the ashes are scattered in water. Ritual ablutions also occur.
