There is another type of leaders who, in principle, do not care whether their subordinates are friends or not. But this is more common in large groups. A person is a social being, and rarely can protect himself from the processes that occur between employees. On my own observations, I will say that in small groups, leaders most often do not maintain friendly relations between subordinates. And friendship within the team serves as a restraining factor in the manifestation of authoritarianism of the leader.
